Agapanthus Blue – A Watercolour inspired by light
When I finished this painting, I couldn’t stop looking at it. I love the dramatic lighting, but more than that, I love how my mind gets lost in thoughts of walks in wild places. Scroll down to find out more.
I enjoyed every brushstroke painting these deep blue agapanthus caught in a shaft of lemony sunlight. I especially love how the rays pick out the fresh new fern leaf in its glorious golden green. Different shades of sage green add depth and interest to this meditative watercolour.
I used Daniel Smith professional watercolours (they have such gorgeous names; 'Undersea Green, Rose of Ultramarine and Green Gold) with Fabriano Artistico Watercolour paper.
The painting comes in a quality soft white double mount which shows it off at it's best. It is cellophaned for protection and so it can be given as a gift.
The image is approximately 8x11 inches and the outer mount size is 12x16 inches.
